Lina,
Several years ago I took PTC's "Training Cub Scout
Leaders" and then "Training Management Seminar" the
next year. Since "New Directions in Training" is offered
by the Cub Scout Division I assume it is the successor
to TCSL. Both are excellent courses and complement each
other. The CS course is more hands on focused (obviously)
on Cub Scout leader training (most of which you will have
had in Cub Trainer Woodbadge). The TMS takes a broader
look at organizing all aspects of training at the District/
Council level.
My suggestion is that you take the TMS in preparation for
you taking the District Training Chairman job. It would be
the best preparation for that job. The NDIT is probably
more appropriate for your new Cub Scout training chairman.
One of the best parts of PTC is sharing ideas with other
participants. You get more info from others in the class
than you do from the instructors (they present the framework
and encourage discussions of successful programs). Be
prepared to share resources and ideas with your classmates.
Take your children to PTC. You all will have a GREAT time.
