[Philmont]: Tent requirements

The three adults in our crew are contemplating make our own ultralight
tents. We can make a two person tent from silnylon, noseeum mesh,
tyvek, and trekking poles that weighs 2-3 pounds and a one-person tent
that weighs 1.5-2 pounds. The boys will be using Philmont tents because
our troop tents are too heavy. We figure the homemade tents will help
us keep up with the boys :-)

I know that Philmont requires that everyone sleep in a tent. I'm going
to call Philmont and check the exact requirements but I thought I'd ask
around here first. Does anyone know exactly what Philmont considers a
tent? Do you have experience using ultralight tents at Philmont? The
tents we're thinking of are a cross between a tarp and a tent. They're
not 100% enclosed.
