>From what I remember on other postings, the tent must have a floor and 4
walls.
So I would say it has to be 100% enclosed.
Good luck in making you own tent. I want to do that too, but after
Philmont.
I've seen some postings at Thru-Hiker.com for making your own tents. The
guy who runs it is an Eagle Scout.
Check out the Workshop section under 18 oz Tarp Tent. There is an Options
section for putting in a floor.
Next would be making my own pack.
I just finished my first of many stuff sacks tonight using 1.1 oz Silicone
Impregnated Ripstop Sil-Nylon.
Actually I should say my aunt, dad, and I just finished it. Tuff stuff to
work with.

The three adults in our crew are contemplating make our own ultralight
tents. .... .... .....
Does anyone know exactly what Philmont considers a tent? The tents we're
thinking of are a cross between a tarp and a tent. They're not 100%
enclosed.
