The thing with Phil-tents, is that the more stakes you
have the better you can stretch out the tent. The
better the tent is stretched out, the better the rain
fly is at keeping water from entering your tent and it
appears to be roomier (although some argue that the
tent is the same size no matter how much it is
stretched out, but whatever). The 10 stakes a person
will also take care of stakes for the dining fly.
Also, if after a couple days you don't think you need
all the stakes you brought, there's usually crews out
there that would trade you almost anything for more
stakes because they have either lost some or didn't
bring enough.
