I posted this a few weeks ago, but just wanted everyone to read it again
since it is a topic of discussion.....

Just a note on this from experience. Last summer my crew did trek 5
and we camped on Phillips. We were originally going to eat our dinner
at Clear Creek and then eat the lunch on Phillips. A fellow scouter who
had been on Trek 5 several times suggested that we not do this. We were
glad we took his advice and carried water to cook dinner on Phillips.
When you get on top of Phillips it is cold and windy and everyone is
generally very tired. The last thing anyone needs here is cold crackers
and squeeze cheese. I helped carry a 2.5 gallon bladder up part of the
way and was glad I did. The warm meal was very much needed. We even
cooked the soup separately instead of making it "one pot" just to get
more warm liquid in everyone. As a safety issue, I think that it is
well worth carrying the water up the mountain. If anyone else has
experience in this area one way or the other, I'm sure the list would
appreciate hearing about it.

Just as an additional note, our last day we decided to cook dinner at
Shafers and have the lunch on the Tooth that night. This worked just
fine, but the tooth was not nearly as cold and windy as Phillips was.
It's up to each individual crew when you get down to it

This is a really good idea. It should be practiced during your workups
or the boys will never think of it. Build flexibility into your method.
