The program at Fish Camp (duh!) includes:

1. tying your own fly -- each participant, including adults, gets to tie
one -- we did woolly buggers.
2. basic casting lesson -- all of 10 minutes
3. fish on your own. We were there early enough that we had about 2
hours to fish before dinner.
4. you can borrow their rods/reels. Brands vary.

I had to buy a one-day license, maybe someone else can remember the
rules -- I think the younger scouts got a deal.

Catch & release was moot -- didn't catch any!

Subject: [Philmont]: Fishing

Some of the Treks mentioned fishing.

Has anyone tried fishing at Philmont?

Where?

Was it Fly fishing only?

Do you need to purchase a state license and how did you get the license?

I assume it is catch and release. Too bad, real food would have been
nice.
