Considering we just had this thread, I'll say :-)

We have a Fujifilm 3800. The most recent issue of Consumer Reports rated it
the top camera under 4 Mpixels. We really like this camera. It uses
XD-picture cards, which may not be compatible with the media you list.
However, the cards are as big as 256 mb and the size and thickness of a
quarter (well, a square quarter). That means you can get about 130 3mPixel
shots on one media. We have printed these shots on photo paper and they
appear indistinguishable from developed non-digital pix (and on a three
color printer, no less).

It uses 4 AA batteries (but get NiMH batteries, they last about three times
as long and are rechargeable, but get the 2100 or higher) and we have filled
the card twice on one set of NiMH batteries (using the flash a lot more than
you will at Philmont, AA batteries, which we also tried, seemed to last just
shy of one full card).

Most important specs are 3.2 MPixel and 6X optical zoom. Camera can be
plugged directly into your usb port and downloaded to your hard drive.
Current plans are to take this camera to Philmont when I go. It even does
short videos with sound.
