I have the Olympus Stylus Epic 35mm. It is very small(a tiny bit larger
than the Elph but not much) and takes great pictures. It has survived many
Philmont summers and backpacking trips since 1998 I believe. It does not
use AA or AAA batery, but one of those odd shaped bateries. You can get
them at Walmart but it is good for atleast 10 rolls of film, I have only
changed the battery a couple of times since I have had it. I have no
complaints and the optics seem to be to be very good. Two of my friends
have puchased this camera since I did after experiencing it.

Olympus now makes the Stylus as a Digital Camera which I am considering
buying for my brother as a wedding gift.

I ain't no camera expert so take this advice as you wish, but I have been
very satisfied with the camera.
