I'm not going until 2004, but I'm considering taking my Olympus OM-1
All manual, all mechanical, SLR with a short zoom. (probably 3lbs total)
no batteries to die, very dependable, built like a tank.
I'll investigate digital options as the event gets closer, but
I've got enough time behind that OM-1, I can focus faster than most
autofocus systems, and can manually advance the film as fast as most
motorized systems.
