Just for your information the St. James Hotel is under new ownership as of last May. They have changed the menu and remodeled the rooms in the annex. It is a very nice place to go now - as a local I had not gone to the James in years and now go there regularly.

Back in '98 two other ladies and i were going to out to eat and we checked out the St James and saw their prices and turned around and walked out -their price are not for those that were on a fixed income like the three of us were-I wouldnt recommend it either

And on the other hand...
I've stayed there numerous times - I like it! Sure it's not a Marriott, but for Cimarron, NM, I thought it was just fine.
Or maybe my expectations are not very high...

I don't know if you have any experience with the St. James Hotel in Cimmaron or not but we stayed there the summer before last the before our arrival to Philmont. Based on that experience I would not recommend it to anybody. It was way overpriced and under maintained in my personal opinion. I couldn't sleep there comfortably.
