A rotating crew leader is definately a bad idea for all of the previously
mentioned reasons and a few more. We had a rotating position of 'navigator'.
Much like the point guide that was mentioned. It gave everyone a chance to
participate in a leadership and skill building role while keeping the crew
leadership in the hands of the crew leader.
As far as choosing the crew leader; we consider the advisors as members of
the crew; they get an equal voice in all crew matters (including choice of
crew leader) and share equally in all crew chores and all crew fun!
FYI - advisors did not get to be navigators.
