We're going with a Council Contingent next June (2004) and I'm so excited
I'm having a hard time not over-analyzing every aspect of this trip. I
know I need to just let it happen, but it's hard.
I'd posted earlier about having too many adults. My solution to that
problem was to send them all a note that was kind of a wake-up call.
I made sure to mention that they needed to get 2 weeks off work, and
that they needed to physically prepare to hike 10mi/day with a 50lb pack
with the potential of severe grades. In the same note, I asked for
volunteers for the waiting list. I got one. Now, at least 2 of the other
3 adults are thinking they may not be able to get the time to go.
Possibly all three. But I'm not worried. I'll pull in the one who
bowed out, and then I've got a waiting-list of three scouts who will be
19-20 when philmont time comes around.
So am I jinxing myself by relaying my situation? we'll see, but if I come
up short, I'll probably have to beat them off with the proverbial stick
after one roundtable announcement.
