Not trying to be harsh, but taking supplimental breakfast foods will not
be necessary. There is so much food in the meals now that I doubt there
will be need for more. Cakes, muffins, pancakes, etc. while tasting really
good are empty calories and dead weight. Feel free to take your
bakepackers, but I would recomend thinking about what their added weight
will do to contribute. If the pallete of the food they prepare brings more
smiles to your faces than the weight they contribute, it may be worth it
:)

Now if you were on a trip with all bulk food and all your own meals, I'd
say go for it. But the meals provided by Philmont will fill your bellies
nicely. As John and others have pointed out, last summer there were many
empty calories added to the meals. I'm sure that Joey, Pat, and Mark have
done much to reevaluate the meals again for summer 2003.

On a separate note, I too must praise the Outback Oven. I have used mine
for many trail cuisines. Pizza, cake, cobbler, muffins, corn bread,
biscuts, etc. From what I have seen of bakepackers, the food tends to have
a little bit of moistness to it.
