Tent weight response from the program director's office:
(Also found on page 8 of the guidebook to adventure)

     "John,
Philmont issues the BSA Philmont Backpacker tent approximate weight 5
1/2 lbs. It is a 2-person tent.
            Betty Brown"

Response to questions regarding one man tents and bivys: ( the guidebook
does say one man tents are ok for odd numbered crews)

    John,
The answer to your questions is No one man tents and No bivy tents. I
checked with Doug Palmer,
    Associate Director of Program.
    Thanks!
    Betty Brown

               Betty,
Can you tell me what is the official word on:
           1) one man tents. Are they permitted?
           2) bivy tents. Are they permitted?

Thank you very much for your time.
