Don,
You must be looking at a different tent.
Here is the weight breakout:
10 Stakes and bag: 8 oz.
Poles and bag: 9 oz.
Tent and fly: 44 oz.
This comes to 61 oz or 3.8 pounds. And, I am happy with that weight.
Actually, my preference is the Hennessy Hammock at 2.5 pounds, but seems
there is a fear of abusing the trees (even with their custom straps).
I realize that the other leader and I could share a Phil tent, but a snoring
incident with this leader and his unwillingness to take my wife's solution
(roll me on my left side and snuggle in the spoon position) seems to be a
permanent barrier to our sharing a tent! I know, I know, he isn't very
flexible! LOL
Anyway, that's the plan and your weight is off by nearly 2 pounds! As for
erecting the tent, you can do it with 2 stakes in a pinch if you need to. 8
is recommended, but that seems to be fewer than the phil tent.
Have a good one!
Bill
