I've got some different straps for my hennessy ultralight (with the wider,
longer straps I still weigh in at less than 2 lbs). Had to have longer
straps because of some of the larger trees. The wider straps are much nicer
to the trees also. (used 1 in tube webbing split open with a hot-knife.
so I've got 2-in single layer webbing)
And it's not hard to use on the ground. I still bring along a sleeping
pad with my hennessy so I have something to sit on and eat dinner. So
if there are no trees, I jsut set the hammock up between my trekking
poles and slip the sleeping pad under the hammock. Usually I'll know about
the no-trees problem ahead of time anyway, but that doesn't change my
game-plan.
