FYI, in the past couple of summers, backcountry camps were told NOT to
refuse trash, even if it wasn't well compacted. The reasoning is that
they wanted to make sure crews got as many smellables gone as possible
(read garbage is a bear attractant). That was in the past, I don't know
about this year.
But PLEASE encourage your Crew leaders to get the crew to compact trash.
Sometimes camps don't get a truck to stop by very often. When the trash in
the bear box gets full, they have to keep it in the cabin. Not plesant. So
please do the staff a favor and COMPACT your trash.
On the cooking note, I prefer cooking in the pots without the roasting bags.
