you did fine. Only in the most extenuating situation (like risk of life and
health) should itineraries be changed, and then any changes need to be
communicated asap to the staff just as you did.
common sense and safety are paramount concerns, and when it comes to SERIOUS
safety issues, you do what you need to do....

The real issue is with crews that change itineraries for CONVENIENCE or
PREFERENCE reasons.....which is totally not acceptable.
