My son was on an OA trail crew trek last summer, when the forest fire started
near CLark's fork. Because the Philmont staff knew exactly where everyone
was, the staff was able to evacuate the area quickly and safely. This not
only ensured the safety of the trekkers, it also limited the exposure of the
staff going back into the area.
