Re: [Philmont]: Cooking pots

Pots I bought were Mirro aluminum pots. Very
lightweight. Small plastic handles on sides.
Somebody posted a suggestion that we drill holes in
handles to allow easy affixing to pack. Sounds like a
good idea. You will also find that they tend to slip
and slide around on backpacking stoves such as the MSR
Internationale, Whisperlite, etc. Good quality pots
made specifically for backpacking usually have
concentric circular grooves etched into the bottom
surface to provide traction. These, of course, were
made for use on home stoves and are smooth. This can
be remedied by shoring the pot into place with the
judicious placement of appropriately sized rocks.
Because the pots are bottom-of-the-line el cheapo's,
they are made of very thin metal which makes them very
light (good) but does require careful strirring to
keep some things from sticking.
