yes, but they are noisy and intrusive to those trying to have a truly
wilderness experience. LEAVE THEM HOME TOO!! OR, take 'em, but keep them
in the packs and OFF unless there is a true life and death emergency.
If electronics, either cell phone or walkie talkies are kept OFF and ONLY
turned on in life-threatening emergencies, then I guess I have no objection.
But they tend to be used often just because they're there......and spoils the
backcountry experience for those forced to listen to the chatter and babble.
