Typically, hot during the day but cool at night. Since Philmont gets more
rain in July & August than during most other months, it may be wet too.
But probably not as wet as in the backcounry where the "monsoon" season is
more pronounced during mid-July through mid-August.

The downside is there is more mud in base camp so it can be nasty during
extended periods of rain. I've seen photos of base came when there had
been lots of rain and it didn't look very good. Sort of reminded me of a
muddy race track.

Looking at the conditions in base camp during Kanik about two weeks ago,
it appears they are having serious problems with erosion and with the
inability to establish grass. Probably because there are so many people
traveling through the areas during the summer months.

The staff parking lot (near the medical lodge) is being refurbished
because it tended to become a quagmire during rainy periods.
