Steve, I had a slightly different Trek 13 in2002. I learned alot from
David Thorn's journal of 2001. My journal is at
http://www.lns.cornell.edu/~seb/philmont-02728j3.html. First half
differed from your itinerary, but it was the same from Aqua Fria to Base
Camp. It was rated "Typical" when we picked it, but when we arrived at
Philmont, Logistics told us it should have been rated "Rugged" due to
the 72 mile length. 11 of us were Philmont rookies and only 1 was an
experienced backpacker. It took lots of teambuilding and teamwork, but
we made it through. If you have any specific questions, holler.

I recevied our trek confirmation e-mail on Tuesday! The boys got their
first choice, trek 13. I would love to hear any comments or suggestions.
I know this trek has changed over the years so here is a summary of the
camps; Olympia, Zastrow, Carson Meadow, Agua Fria, Crooked Creek,
Cyphers Mine, Cimarroncito, Cimarroncito, Upper clarks Fork, Hike in via
the Tooth of Time. As we all first timers it is very helpful for us to
have a listserver like this. Lots of helpful information! Steven
