Knives
Thanks for the tips on the Micra and sheath knife. I also have a Juice
S2, which is smaller and lighter than the Wave, but still heavier than a
Micra. I'll watch the sales for Micras between now and the trek as that
makes sense.

My intent was not to resurrect the whole sheath knife issue, hence I've
been holding back for a few weeks debating whether or not to even
mention it. But I will briefly comment in reply to some points raised.
1. I've seen boys throw folding knives too. 2. The knife I own is small
and modest and isn't a macho statement. 3. It's not practical for most
daily tasks but is the most valuable sharp in a true emergency/survival
situation. Now what does send chills down my back is new scouts using a
hatchet for the first time, but that's a discussion for another list.
:-)

BakePacker
Again, thanks for the info. I'm amazed at how much one learns on this
list. A follow up question. Where does one find 8-qt. pots? I've seen
solo pots from several ounces up to 6-qts. Then they leap up to 10 qts.

Thanks
