Don't miss the homesteading program at Crooked Creek. Sounds "hokey" but
our boys have always enjoyed it. Also, ASK for both pick-ups of food when
you go to Phillips junction. That way you can be well past and on your way
when you leave Beaubien. Otherwise you won't get out of Phillips until
after they open. They may tell you it is a bad idea. They may not really
want to. They did it anyway for us.

Comments...

There are not many treks with food pickups on successive days, but the
similar Treks 4 and 5 are two. I hadn't thought about eliminating the
second pickup on Trek 5 before, but it makes a lot of sense.

On Trek 4, it is possible to eliminate the first one and save a side hike to
PJ from Beaubien to get two meals (the next day's breakfast and lunch). You
don't pickup that night's dinner because you will be doing the Chuckwagon.
I guess you could do the sidehike the first day and pickup both day's meals,
but our crew (and our sister crew, as it turns out) both slept in the second
day (relatively speaking), got to PJ right at 8:00 when the commissary
opened, picked up the meals we were supposed to get the day before and the
ones for that day, and then sat down under the trees and ate breakfast
before moving on to Crooked Creek, which is not far.

And yes, while the program sounds "hokey", the crews there had a good time
with it.
