You can order meals from Philmont.  That way you can actually practice with the same foods that you will be getting there.

As observed from this list, the Philmont dinners appear to need only rehydration and using the turkey bag seems like a great idea.  Towards the effort of simulating the experience prior to Philmont, does anyone have menu suggestions for one pot meals that are commercially available (other than the pre-packaged dehydrated food which is prohibitively expensive)?  We often make one-pot meals which require more cooking than simple rehydrating so your suggestions are appreciated.  I thought about pasta, but that requires cooking not just rehydrating.  Please help.
