To emulate dehydrated food to cook, start with basic instant minute rice. Then be creative with what you can get or have. Add vegetable soup, dehydrated vegetable flakes which are available at most good grocery stores. Top off with some of the tuna in a bag or summer sausage. Of course if you a dehydrator you can make your own. I buy pre sliced mushrooms, grated carrots , grated broccoli, coleslaw etc and dehydrate them. Prep time is minimal. You add them all in a bag, add water to hydrate, boil the water, make the rice and mix, yum yum! You can also find instant spaghetti sauce, and gravies to add to the rice. You will be surprised what is available if you look for it.

I second the motion, don't forget a spice kit. The prepared ones are nice. We carry custom ones with not only meal spices but desert spices too. If you are creative you can make tasty deserts. We save some of the deserts that have the graham cracker crusts, at the commissary they usually have apples or oranges that they will give you. Slice em' up, add cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, sugar, whatever and you have a desert!

I always prepare a mix of dehydrated vegetables to take. Coleslaw, broccoli, and the carrots all dehydrate well, and weigh nothing. Add water and you have some vegetables and vitamins. The one thing that Phil Phood lacks is fresh fruits and veggies.
