On the new food list for Philmont they are distributing cans of tuna etc. in
their meal packages. Does anyone know if these require a can opener? Or are
these flip top?

Comment...

The Philmont lunches have included canned items (chicken, ham) - aka
"spreadables" - for some time. These are in small individual cans, with
flip tops. Tuna was added a couple years ago - it comes in foil envelope,
again individual portions. Other lunch items like peanut butter and jelly,
and cheeses come in small packets, similar to and maybe three times bigger
than the condiment packages at a fast food restaurant - these are commonly
called "squeezables."

Have you seen the Trail Food menu for 2004, or were you looking at 2003's?
While I am expecting the 2004 menu to be very similar to 2003, there has
been a number of changes in the past couple of years when the packaging went
from four persons to two in 2002 (the year known as "cracker mania") and all
those extra crackers were eliminated in 2003. There is a scout in one of my
troop's crews with some dietary restrictions, and I would like to confirm my
expectation of little change from 2003 to 2004.
