[Philmont]: Transportation to Philmont

Phil-Pholks,

We are pulling the final details together for our pre-Philmont travel and
touring.
We fly from Pa. to Albuquerque.
We are currently negotiating with a bus company and are considering renting
vans.

The bus company is offering a price that seems pretty good, but I would
like to know if any other Scouters have dealt with them - they are called A
Great Way To Go... a division of Berzas Inc.
Please respond (off-list) if you know anything about this company. Thanks
in advance!

In checking rental vehicles, the best deal I could find is 15 passenger
vans @ $499 a week.
We called virtually every rental outfit in the Albuquerque area.
Since we need two vans and our trip is 17 days, the cost is $2596.
By the time we buy gas, the cost is equal with the bus service. I am not
sure that it is worthwhile to do vans, when we can ride in a 47 passenger
bus for the same money.
I have not been able to figure out a way to avoid the cost of 12 days in
the Philmont parking lot or another way to bring the cost down.
Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks,
Rick Neff
