RE: [Philmont]: Polar Pure Storage

I tried polar pure for the first time last weekend on our shakedown and
surprisingly, it was very well received by the Scouts. As I learned here, I
am glad someone suggested storing the polar pure in a zip lock bag because
even after tightening it as much as possible, there was leakage inside the
(double) bag.

As usual, the list provided timely information!

Thanks,

Definitely with water. If it's dry, the iodine will sublime (evaporate
out) of the bottle, no matter how tightly you try to seal it. Even
plastic wrap won't stop iodine vapor. If you insist on storing it dry,
invert the bottle and dip it into liquid wax. That's about the only
thing that will work.

BTW, there is no harm to its efficacy if the iodine is left under water,
even for years.
