RE: [Philmont]: The 5 favorite things I/We took to Philmont

1. My 2000 provisional crew of 8 Scouts, all of whom are now Eagles

2. The kid from my troop who only ever wanted to play video games and who
was always last in line hiking who
led the charge up the Tooth on our last day in 1997 and talked about
coming back. And who earned his Eagle.

3. My daughter in 2002 who decided Philmont staff was for her.
She worked staff last year and will be back again this year.

4. My wife to PTC in 1994, 2001, and 2003, where she sees I am not the only
one like this and
where she gets to commiserate with other Scouting spouses

5. My son in 1997 who spent several days on the trail hiking in the back
with me and talking.
And whom I saw grow in leadership skills over the days of the trek.
