I didn't notice a big difference in the meal weights. We planned ours based
on the need for water and then the crew picked what they felt like eating.
If anything I thought the meals were a bit light in 2004 and my crew cleaned
out every swap box we came to (dehydrated green beans being the exception).
Consensus was too much PB&J, but the Jalapeņo squeeze cheese was a big hit
even though it had a slight processed flavor. But when its all you've got,
who's complaining.

To all
This may be obvious but eat your heaviest meals first!

I'd have to agree with Jeff. I remember a lot of boxes of crackers and tins
of meat for lunch. Definitely heavier that dehydrated beans or stroganof.

On average, I think the lunches are actually the heaviest meals. There are
a lot of ready-to-eat items with lunch; dinner is usually freeze-dried. I
have a couple dozen Philmont meals here at home and a quick unscientific
comparison by lifting each package confirms this. However, I don't have
every meal, so there may be some lunches that are lighter than some dinners.
You probably want to check the specific meals you are considering switching.
