Does anyone have a strong feeling, one way or the other, about using
trekking poles? Do they really make it easier?
Don't leave home without them. When I first started seeing people use them,
they did not appeal to me. Then I was in the Grand Canyon about 8 years ago
and a man and woman that looked to be late 60's blew by us like we were
standing still. Their hiking poles were really moving. My knees were
really aching from the first day. I decided then to buy a pair and try
them. On my next trip, after a few hours getting used to using them, I
decided I would never hike again without them.
