Our crew last summer formed a sub-group called the E1 club named after the
REI E1 raingear cloth. The jackets are lightweight, stash very small
(smaller that my Marmot pre-clip) and repel water beautifully. They do
breath as well. The pants are full zip so that they're easy to get on and
off without taking off your boots.
Marmot makes a similar set of products that I swear by.
Rain gear is critical to keep warm and to keep water out of your boots.

Checkout frogg toggs at www.froggtoggs.com . Only 14oz. for jacket and
pants combined. Very compressible. They offer a Boy Scout discount, but
you have to ask for it. Scout gear comes with a BSA emblem already screened
on the jacket. Google "frogg toggs review" and you'll get a lot of good
info.
