We were there in 2003 at the end of July. The only place we had flies
were around the horse and donkey yards. I don't remember any
mosquitoes.+ We had our daily late afternoon thunderstorm.

But then I grew up in Maine where the mosquitoes are as big as bees and
swarm around you. :-)

The type of bugs you find will vary by time of summer, altitude, and
weather conditions and where you are on the ranch. Be prepared but your
ranger will tell you what to expect. Ours told us to take a couple of
bottles of mosquito repellent per crew but we didn't need it. If you
need more, there are always trading posts where you can replenish.
