Bob

Tell him to bring his lenses. I've worn them on every trek without any
problems. Of course, he will need to take his glasses as backup and will have to
take extra time to ensure that he keeps his lenses clean. I've tried
backpacking with glasses and found it almost impossible because my glasses fog up or
get coated with sweat.

Have him do his shakedown hikes with contacts and see how things turn out.
