Roy asked about possibility of swapping lunches - getting Lunch 4 instead of
Lunch 8 (presumably meaning that you'd get Lunch 4 twice).
I think that that won't work. I believe that the Philmont commissary issues
meals by day of the month, modulo 10 - if it is June 21 and you are picking
up 3 days of food, then you will be issued Breakfast/Lunch/Dinners 1, 2, and
3 - doesn't matter if you are on Day 1 of your trek (initial issue at
basecamp) or Day 7 (in the backcountry). On June 23, they'll issue meals 3,
4, 5, 6, ....; on June 29 they'll issue meals 9, 10, 1, 2,...
You will eventually be issued all 10 numbered meals, but depending on your
day of arrival, they may be issued 4, 5, 6, 7,... or 9, 10, 1, 2, 3,....
Of course, once you've got your 3 or 4 days of food, you can eat the meals
in any order you want.
