My Troop has done Philmont in 2001 and Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) in
2002 and 2003. We each carried two Nalgene bottles and a Stearns 2.5
gallon water bladder. This combination gave us the capacity to deal with
any dry camp and this system was flexible with the water purifiers we use.
When the water capacity was not needed the Stearns water bladder took up
very little space and weight. Personally, I don't recommend to sipping
tubes for sanitary reasons.
