I've worked at Philmont during every season. During that time for two
Autumns as an AA Guide and Forest Fire Rehab. Autumn is BY FAR the
best time to be at Philmont, hands down. You have the backcountry to
yourself, there's no schedule to have to be anywhere by any certain
time.
Maybe its just because I'm not real social, but the idea of knowing
your little group is the only ones around for miles is great.
The weather during the autumn is pretty darn near perfect. The aspens
turn yellow and gives Philmont a different look.
