One problem is that it is rather labor intensive. It comes on 150'
rolls that are about 9 feet tall. So you either get a long, skinny fly,
or you have to join the pieces together somehow (Tyvek makes a tape).
Then, there is the fact that there are no grommets or tie outs so those
have to be added. Then, as others have pointed out, unless its washed,
it is sort of stiff and very noisy.

Once all those factors are solved, it does okay. I use it for the
ground cloth under my tent and a scrap from the trimming process as a
"lay down sheet" at my pack so when I need something in the bottom, I
don't have to lay everything else down on the ground. Both pieces weigh
just over eight ounces total.

I don't know how well Tyvek would hold up to the ultraviolet light that
the tarps would get either. Its designed to go *under* the siding on
buildings.

Happy Trails,

Roy Fisher
