After you wash Tyvek with cold water (no detergent) in the washing machine a
couple of times and then use it a couple of times, it is AMAZING how soft,
pliable and light it is while retaining it's desirable properties. It can
also be ordered with no printing on it. There are other websites that show
multiple uses of Tyvek so that, once you are sold on the stuff, you may end
up with a Tyvek tent, pack, tarp, ground cloth, rainsuit, pack cover,
underwear.....well.....OK, maybe not the underwear....but a bunch of stuff.
Another advantage is, if you go in with others on a roll to split the cost,
Tyvek is very inexpensive. It's nice to be on an outing and a 9' x 12' tarp
disappears and you know you paid less that $10 for it :-)
