In previous posts concerning Tyvek, some folks had made mention that if you contact the Tyvek factory rep. directly tell them that your use is for scouts, flys, ground clothes, etc. Tyvek had made a "donation" of the Tyvek material. May be just a story, but then it could be worth the inquiry.

Hey, Lou, if you are interested in buying a roll of tyvek to make flies and
tent footprints from, I'll consider going for half the roll (just haven't
been willing to spring for a whole roll)
For the rest of you that want to suggest scraps, we rarely see tyvek used in
building around here. We don't have the weather that makes it necessary.
The hardware stores don't even sell it. Gotta mail order.
