Far be it from me to disagree with anything Coop says.
However, it occurs to me that though the jetboil is virtually useless for
the crew meals (emphasize "CREW", not individual), I think that may be the
most perfect of solutions for the advisor who must have his/her coffee in
the mornings. One of the main factors militating against coffee on treks is
the time it takes to boil water and the delay in hitting the trail. With a
jetboil, the advisor can get his coffee quickly and then put it all away
while the boys are packing up. Since the breakfasts are virtually all
no-cook, there is usually no opportunity to heat water in the morning.

The problem with the Jet Boil is its size. The largest size pot is 1.5
liters which means you are going to need at least four going to handle just
the entree for a 12 person crew. I think they are great for individual
backpackers or small groups, but they really aren't the right size for a
Philmont crew. Plus, they use a micro-canister that is not sold in the
Trading Post so that means you would have to ship a sufficient quantity of
them to cover your entire trek out ahead of time.
