For the advisor who cannot prop there eyes open without that first cup of coffee and doesn't want to burden the Scouts into boiling his water for him, try this.
Instead of a Jet Boil. Carry a heat tab stove. BSA used to sell them and still may, but they are available from many camping outlets.
Some have three folding legs and some resemble a small tin box. All use Hexamine heat tablets. One tablet heats one cup of water to just right to drink temperature. Pour in the mix and walla, you have coffee, hot chocolate, tea, spiced lemonade or whatever you need to get you moving.
If you use a METAL cup then you can heat it right in the cup.
I have carried one of these in my day hike fanny pack for eons. I've used it in so many locations I can't count them including Philmont.
I made soup under a Fir Tree at 11,000 in a blizzard on an Elk hunt and enjoyed every minute of my entrapment. Actually all four hours of it.
Think outside the box.
