We're doing trek #13 which has some fishing opportunities. Some of the
scouts are hyped about fishing.
What would you recommend they take along in the way of fishing gear?
(Specific details are welcome.)
I am assuming their interest in fishing will not always coincide with the
convenience of borrowing gear from a nearby staff camp.
Thanks for your ideas.

Re: program features-porcupine camp. Fishing is good at the camp and
upstream and downstream. I think (check me on this one) gear can be checked
out at PJ which is not that far downstream. Your real fishermen will have
their own. Showers at PJ. Very nice camp next to the babbling Rayado. Red
roof inns. When I went to Philmont in the '70's, Porky (which is featured in
"The Ranger Song") was a staff camp and the program was fly tying and
fishing. The old cabin, nicknamed "The Quill" is still standing, in a manner
of speaking (or at least it was when I last stayed there, in Sept. 2005).
I'll post later on about why you (or anyone else passing by) should not pass
up Shaeffer's peak, aside from simple peak bagging. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
