<<I'm going to suggest my crew for this summer take a couple short poles. I hope they "catch" the fishing bug, we're going to Northern Tier/Bissett, Manitoba, CANADA next year............but that is another topic for another list.

Well, kinda sorta maybe for the Canoe list, but I'll tresspass just a little to whet the appetite.

  Northern Tier fishing gear.

All we took was medium weight open face spinning gear with 17 lb mono and red and white striped Daredevil spoons. Caught fish EVERY day and being from Cajun country, our evening meals were FISH with a little canoe base food thrown in for good measure.

We had fried fish, fish stew with potatoes, court boullion, fish sauce piquant, whole fish over coals on a stick. You name it. Every way but blackened and that ain't Cajun, its how they fool tourist in New Awlens into bying old fish.

We had a layover day on MacKenzie and the Scouts fished to their hearts content. Like I said, we ate plenty. They even built a rock pond about 14 feet across to keep them in alive. When we left, they counted them as they released them. Fifty-four Walleye!!! That's what we did not eat.

We caught other species, but only ate the Walleye. Why settle for second best.

I'm not trying to start a new thread or get the Philmont list off topic, but if you haven't done Northern Tier, you are missing something special.

The trip I spoke of above was in 1966, but the fishing is still that good up there.

  Go try for yourself.
