> 6-32 oz Nalgenes seems a bit over-kill
The original post said "Nalgene canteens." Not sure exactly what was meant,
but I think Nalgene uses the word "canteen" to refer to collapsible
containers. Certainly 6 hard side bottles will take up a lot of volume,
even when empty.
Most of our guys use a 2-3 L hydration system in their pack and bring a 1 L
Nalgene for a "juice" bottle. We use 3 L "Nalgene Canteens" (collapsible)
as needed for crew water. Usually one canteen per tent buddies. The 3 L
takes next to no room when empty and is small/light enough when full that it
doesn't overly burden the person carrying it.
