Keith -

One of our Patriots' Path Council contingent crews is doing Trek 31 and when
I looked at it a little closer, I realized that I have some other comments
about it.

Days 3 to 4 - believe it or not, some crews on 31 elect to take burros from
Ponil on Day 3 and drop them at Miranda (doing black powder there) before
heading up to Ewells Park.

Day 9 - (repeating my prior comment) the mapped route shows the drop down to
Cyphers but the chart does not include a water pick up there nor double
dipping the gold mining and blacksmithing programs.

Day 10 - the mapped route is the straight shot through Red Hills through
Phillips Junctions (food pickup, though the symbol for that is not shown
there nor the others at Baldy and Ute Gulch) to Beaubien. If you've got the
afternoon horse ride, that is what you have to do. If you don't have horse
rides, a route through Clear Creek (picking up black powder there) to PJ
would be an option.

Day 11 - the mapped route is through Black Mountain Camp (with a third
chance to do black powder as well as blacksmithing, though I doubt you'd
have time for either), then up Black Mountain and over to Shaefers Pass.
Since Shaefers sometimes has water, the chart does not mention that you may
have to go to North Fork Urraca for water if it is dry. An alternate route
is the 50 plus crossings of the stream between Black Mountain Camp and North
Fork Urraca, then up to Shaefers Pass.
