We did something similar - in 2005, my wife ran across some arrowhead shaped leather pieces in a close-out bin at some craft place; they were around 3x4". Didn't take up much pack space or weight, and worked great for branding. Several came back with holes from being used as black powder targets too.

    Kirk,
I just checked the brand size on my leather camp mocs, branded at Beaubian. 1 1/2 inch tall. An idea I got from the list made a pretty neat token for the guys. I found some leather, traced the Philmont arrowhead and cut one for each of the crew. Punched a hole in the top, stamped individual initials and crew # in the leather and then tied a cord loop. Guys used them as luggage tags and then branded them and used them as targets as the various black powder ranges on the trek. Cost - zip, neat souvenir.
