For what it's worth. An empty nalgene weighs about 6 ounces, so if you carry 4, that's a pound and a half. You can get MUCH lighter weight water carriers, like almost nil platypus containers, or used sterile water containers from someone in a hospital. (Although if you use the platypus you might want to carry ONE real nalgene). To me, that's lightweight conscious but not fanatical.
